    SUPER EDIT:

    This is my latest. I fixed a ton of crap. o-o;;
    http://www.box.net/shared/07u7vsn5qq

    EDIT:
    And now this is. XD
    http://www.box.net/shared/233fboy5p5

    Could I be making this any more complicated? Yes. :D

    I just updated my reclist to what I'd like to thinkis going to be my final. I made it more uniform and added the two "Vowels" that I knew I was missing. That Schwa in "Book" and "took" and the "thv" in "the" and "that"

    I also added CC's that I didn't have because I didn't think I'd need them. I'm gonna see if they make the flow any smoother.

    The final count is 130 recordings, and should be somewhere under 1300 oto's.
    ^___^

    I wont post another update till I finish rerecording, and get an actual Demo song finished. THEN, I'll post my reclist if I'm satisfied. xDD;

    -------

    I am new to this forum, but I'm not new to UTAU!

    At least a few of you know I've been working on an English Only VB for some time now. I've finially got it to the point where I can really test it.

    So far it's under 100 recordings, it was at 90 when I first wrote them out, but since then I've taken out some and added some. I just haven't recounted. xD
    And there should be like under 1000 something Oto files in the end.

    So this is my current Test, I'm using the Firefiles vsq made by sango on youtube. :3

    http://www.box.net/shared/6c1pzhnqc1

    I'll keep you updated on my project.~ x3

    EDIT:
    Here's the next line! xD;
    I didn't edit this one to show what it sounds like with my fantastical Oto's working as they should. Ff.. xD;
    So yeah, it's a bit clunkier. I'll edit this one for when I finish the next line to show the difference.

    http://www.box.net/shared/xek3775fey

    Right now I only have the links between such things as A and ER being a Y. Because for vowels like A E and I in English you link them with Y's Aya, Eya, Iya. So when she says Stare it sound like Stayer. So I'm either going to see if I can get it to sound more like Stare with a bit of editing, or I'm going to add these linking vowels that I originally had in but took out because they seemed to all link with Y's.

    EDIT:
    She sounds much better when it's slower. xD I didn't mean to make her slur a bit though, I'll fix that. o-o;

    :DDD
    Thanks guys!

    I'm making the oto files as I go, so it's taking a while. But it seems to be a pretty easy system to use once you get going. XD

    And the recording is the easy part. ^_^ It's around 90 right now. The annoying part is getting the 1000 or so Oto's done. xD

    But when I'm done with it it should be similar to Ritsu's VCV's. Only... Very English. So... you should just have to go in and tweak them a bit after you record them all. :0

    Fantastic!
    :'D May I request the (probably WIP) reclist?
    And once you're done with it, can I add it to the Reclist download thread? I know a lot of people would love this.
    I myself am developing a CV english list (I'd over complicate a VCV list so I decided against it). It's pretty good, but not as smooth as this.

    Anyway, this sounds really good!

    Yup! ^_^

    I just need to re-write out some things for it and finish the testing. And write out how it works. o_O; But I'll try and get my list up soon.~

    It's bacically a CV VV VC and kind of CC. xDD;
    Depending on how you look at it. I took all the consonants that you can hold, like nnn, mmm, fff, shhh, jjj... and made them work like vowels. So what I don't have is CC like.. db, gd, kt.. and so on.
    So it's not a triphonic system.. it's a Continuous Diphonic.. English.. thing. xD

    I'm still thinking them out. xDD

    She seems to have a hard time when the song is really fast. I'm probably going to have to record them better and tighten up the oto's ... and Edit better. XD

    http://www.box.net/shared/mkn8x9x9ms

    And I'm definitely going to need to add the Vowel to Vowels I took out. The Y's work for "The yo open" But not "Stayer" xD

    No, I didn't. XD That would have been very useful, but I think I've got everything on that list now.
    I need to add a Schwa that I thought I had covered but didn't and some of the vowel combination's that I took out.

    It's all very silly. UTAU wasn't made to work with VC. xD I'm having a giant battle with it. :/
    I wish someone would program it for English!

    Well, actually, I was just (as in, as I am posting this) playing around with VCs.
    They work.
    Buuut. Even then, you have to configure them kinda like VCV, and make the previous not the vowel most of the time. But it makes faster songs easier and it makes it flow better. Much better.
    Just not VVC or CVC. D;
    But I got my "in", "ing", "it" and "ov" to work.
    :'D Just on long notes, I had to double the otos for ing and make it so the vowel got stretched, whereas on teh normal ing note, I have the oto set so that most of the vowel is cut off (because I recorded like "iiiiiiing", so I cut it off to "iing"), and only the "ng" gets stretched.
    ...Lost my train of thoughts... I ahd something else to say here...

    Waaah~ *flails*
    The way I originally had it was with most of the vowel's in VC not cut off, but yeah, that only worked for slower songs, so now all of my VC's have almost none of their Vowels left... and it seems to be working pretty well? But I know there's a better way to do it. D< I just need to really figure out how these Oto's are working with everything...
    'Cause I also have like "sl" that need to sometimes work as a CV, a VV, a CC and a VC. o-o Like.. depending on where it is in the song. xP

    So.. "sl" lee" "ep",'sleep' It's kind of a CV, that kinds needs to work like a CC, kinda. xD But for something like... Uhh.. I dunoo. e.e "is lie" :/ "ii" "is" "sl" "lii" I need it to be a VV... I think. And then for like... erm... think of a word that ends with sl? XD Eehh... in anycase I would need it to work as an VC. o-o

    Actually, I have no idea what I'm talking about. But I have a feeling I'm going to have to make a lot of doubles for a lot of things... like everything actually. And then I need to really figure out what needs to go where. And everything is suddenly even more complicated. xD

    I'll keep attacking it. e.e

    If anyone has a super good understanding of how Oto's work, I'd love some ideas. xD

    I'm sure they'd love to help! Or you can request an oto done for you :3

    Post by Haloheroine Wed Apr 21, 2010 6:27 pm

    ...Okay so.
    Go into your voice bank settings for, uh... lets make it easy and say you are making settings for a long and short "in".

    Go to "in", right click it, and press "paste", or (P).
    Now.
    In the second "in"s alias box, call it another name. The most efficient is probably "in2" or something simple. This way you specify it under a different name so UTAU doesn't play the first "in" files oto settings.

    Buh, are you familiar with the placement of everything in otos?
    Like, for CVs
    First cutoff (okay you obviously know this one but yeah): cuts off any consonant slurring, but generally just up to the end of the first silence is good.
    Pre-utterance: At the end of the consonant, or the start of the vowel.
    Overlap: in the middle of the pre-utterance and the front cutoff
    Pink bar: a little bit over the start of the vowel, it controls what is stretched out in long notes.

    Well, for VCs, you need to change this a bit.

    Short VCs

    First cutoff:
    Cut off the first silence and the start of the vowel (so it flows from the previous note)
    Pre-utterance: near the middle or end of the vowel... The end is probably better, but if the end of the vowel is more than 250ms away, then move the front cutoff forward a bit more.
    Overlap: in the middle of the pre-utterance and the front cutoff... But you generally need it a little closer to the pre-utterance.
    Pink bar: a little bit over the start of the consonant.

    long VCs

    First cutoff: Cut off the first silence and the start of the vowel (so it flows from the previous note)
    Pre-utterance: About 80ms or so... Varies. You can play around with this.
    Overlap: in the middle of the pre-utterance and the front cutoff... But you generally need it a little closer to the pre-utterance.
    Pink bar: ...between the overlap and pre-utterance, so the vowel gets stretched as well... But this is one to mess around with on a longish note until it sounds good.

    Oh, and for the different things like "sl", the variants sound so similar it doesn't really matter, but if you really want them to flow, do the same as for VCs, and paste the oto a couple of times for each version.

    I just woke up, if I said something stupid don't shoot me.

    Hrrrm, that's more or less how I've had them. I can tighten 'em u a bit more though.
    I'll keep messing with it till it really sounds right. :3

    And yuh, I already have a tooon of duplicate oto's. XD;
    The voice bank is recorded a lot like a triphonic voice bank. That's how I condensed it all into <100 files. And that's why I've got like 1000 oto's, which is why I'm still testing everything... There's so much to go through!!

    ...*assumed again*
    D: I totally should have explained the fitting to the otos thing!
    Oh well, good you got it to work!

    D: Wow. it sounds even better. <333
    I might suggest making the volume on the consonants turned down a little... Otherwise they sound kinda metallic. :C

    ...But did you put a "0" in the modulation box? Because at points it sounds a little like its at "-"...
    Every now and then, especially while working in English or on a VSQ, select all, right click a note and put a 0 in the modulation box. D: Other wise things will sound odd.

    Fitting to the oto's? XD the STP?
    Most of what you told me for the Oto's I already knew, I just didn't have them quite right. xD;

    I usually edit the volume a lot, but I didn't feel like it this time around. It should say something about that in my link. XD

    Uhh.. for some things I did, but for some others is sounded better with a little bit cut off.

    You should check out Aiko's full english VB, since she has the best English I've seen so far.
    But I must say, this is godly.
    Beats Sonika for sure- *shot by all the Sonika fans*

    I've seen her VB, it's huge!

    But mine's nothing like her's. :0
    I don't think it would do me any good. Mine's recorded like a triphonic VB.

    This is what the first line of the song looks like when it's written out.

    yu uw wo od dn na at bE El lE Ev vy yO Or rI Is.
    You would not believe your eyes.

    ii if ft te en nm mi il lE Ey yu un nf fI Iy y3 3f fl lI Is
    If ten million fireflies.

    And it's recorded like this:

    bAb^bEbIbObUb
    babebibobub@b
    bmbnbsbfbSb3b
    bvblbjbzbTbwb

    I've got symbols meaning other English vowels, I think it's a different system then the others. I'll explain them when I finish the VB and releases it.
