    How to use MMV for making talkloid USTS

    MikuMikuVoice is a program by which you can convert your wav files to VSQ. It reads pitch fairly well, so you can make some spiffy talkloid usts with it.

    I don't like MMV; the timing tends to get off in really bad ways...so I just do it by ear and musical intuition.

    Yeah, the timing in MMV can get pretty bad. XD If you can, it's better to go by ear. Or a well-made MIDI...

    What they said.
    MMV would be more acceptable if it at least got tempos, but it doesn't. ^^
    By ear is the way to go, by far...
    BUT ONLY IF YOU CAN GET TEMPOS. D;

    Dx Oh derp. I actually asked the vocaloid users on VO how they time vsqs and this was the answer I got, lol. I think I'm going to stop going on that site~

    And timing by ear is way beyond me. OTL I wish I had your musical talents, halo.

    hang on a sec, editing this tutorial so I don't throw people off track.

    HURR* also, It seems koorima1 uses a program called fruity loops studio 9.
    he can label the midi directly on the orignal MP3 and get perfect timing. I wish I had that producing program. It costs a fortune though.

    I wouldn't suggest that! Midis are seriously unpredictable, and are almost always off. Going by ear is really it.

    It's not a sense of music you need, just rhythm; if you've played a musical instrument before, it should be fine.

    @Aster-dear
    MIDIs work fine ^^
    As long as you have the tempo, they're as good as working by ear.

    @ Ectasydarks

    It's just "FL Studio" now. Fruity Loops = Out of the question.
    But that's a minor thing.
    Let's go on to the more advanced things it can do. It can create midis that ALWAYS WORK PROPERLY WITH UTAU AND VOCALOID, and it can also be used for mixing and creating songs. I use FL Studio all the time for mixing. :3

    The thread is here. In the third post is a registry key that cracks anything made by Image-line before their "Harmless" synthesizer came out. Products affected that are updated are still able to be cracked. (Image-line doesn't change the registry key that affects whether its registered or not, to ensure all products have a lifetime update available.)
    Simply download the demo, install it, run the registry key, and there you go!

    Hmm, my experience is quite limited but, I've been using wavetone for timing midi->ust.
    Am I the only one?

    Of course the midi is still out and I have to fix it with UTAU later so I end doing double the work anyway, ugh. But this could be just because I fail at tempo.

    I guess it depends on the MIDI. Some of them can be off, but there are some really nice ones out there too. I'm not exactly a making-USTs-out-of-MIDIs expert, though, I don't think I've ever tried that before. ^__^;; But if you're trying to figure out the tempo of a song, BPM Counter is really helpful. Just play the song and tap along to the beat~

    YESSSS FL studio 9! (I frickin' need to get on more.)
    /I hijacked a copy of sony vegas from here too. :w: I'm learning a lot~

    thanks for the advice, everyone. Now I can cough* make houraika cough* >w< I was looking for a program to time my notes right on the original MP3 file, so fl studio is exactly what I was looking for. There's even a tap meter in fl studio 9, so I can input the tempo manually. /whoot my problems are solved.
