    Pitch bends? Empty Pitch bends?

Post by Tigurr Sun Sep 12, 2010 2:29 pm

Sorry if these questions have been answered somewhere, I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at so I don't know what to search for :'D

    Pitch bends? 88156301
Firstly, yeah...so I see those blue lines inbetween the notes in a lot of USTs...what are they?
Secondly, on this same UST, if I right click a note and choose 'pitch', I get a box like this

    Pitch bends? 16972073
And then when I tick the second box, it lets me adjust the pitch bend and stuff. In an UST I've made myself, how do I get it to do that? It comes up with a different box D:

And finally...is resampler.dll that bad? Do most people use a different one? What's the difference? D:

Thats all...for now :'D I have a lot of questions...

    Those are pitch bend lines!

    Also, that second box is actually for vibrato, are we thinking of the same thing here? owo;; Checking the first box will let you move the little boxes on the pitch bend lines around so you can control the pitch bend. Also, if you need more boxes, you can tick the third radio button in the Pitch menu, and type however many you need on that on the note into the drop-down box next to it. I actually think I'm going to make a video tutorial because it's kind of hard to explain without showing it. XD;;

But before all that, make sure your UST is in Mode2. The "Mode2" button in the top-right corner should be pressed down.

Hmm... well, personally I don't use it because it can make your notes all buggy sometimes. I'd give it a try, and if your notes are suddenly going all loud and quiet you can uncheck the "resampler.dll" box at the bottom of the "Rendering Options" window.

Sorry, I got mixed up :'D Vibrato, that's the one. And I knew it was something to do with pitch bends...well, it is pitch bends.

Mode2 it is :'D I'll mess around with that then.

I didn't even know you could check/uncheck resampler.dll, I thought you just had to have it on. What does it actually do?

    Thank you for answering :D

resampler.dll does the resampling inside the program, instead of externally, so it's faster. However, it's more buggy, and will make some notes randomly loud or soft.

I use fresamp, the newest version of the resampler. http://twitter.com/ameyaP_/status/12641592834

^Be aware, that fresamp can cause nasally sound when going on high notes and low notes. It's isn't suggested for everyday use. |D

Resampler.dll uses C++/C# for rendering, however, since all the code in it isn't correct, it functions in a way that isn't proper, for example, causing some notes to clip, and some notes to be overly soft. (I'm working on getting my friend to help me with fixing this .dll)
What I've noticed is that .dll actually loves full list triphonic banks. It likes sounds with lots of preutterance and overlap.

However, most people don't use resampler.dll and use resampler.exe for rendering. It's glitchless, as batch files follow a different script to resample with. It just takes longer- windows can handle .dll scripts 1.5 times faster than most batch scripts.

    Thank you, I understand a bit more now :'D I'll stick to resampler.exe ... I don't mind waiting.
