    Steps of the Utau fandom

Post by BlazePyron on Fri Oct 01, 2010 11:28 pm

    1. Laugh at the weaboos.
    2. Ask what anime/manga Miku is from.
    3. Ask what Vocaloid is.
    4. Comment on how Teto is a cool Vocaloid
    5. Ask what Utau is.
    6. Download Utau.
    7. Whine about how it doesn't work.
    8. Download AppLocale
    9. Whine about how it still doesn't work.
    10. Change your locale to Japanese.
    11. Download Oremo.
    12. Record your first voicebank.
    13. Ask what an oto is.
    14. Look up Mae's tutorials.
    15. Do it wrong.
    16. Whine about how there's no romaji usts
    17. Try the oto again.
    18. Make the vocals to your first song.
    19. Mix in Audacity, with much clipping
    20. Add a white text on blue background title on WMM
    21. Publish to Youtube
    22. Release your first voicebank.
    23. Whine about how nobody notices you.
    24. Join Overseas
    25. Ask for art.
    26. Somebody helps you with your voicebank (probably Mae)
    27. Try and record VCV's
    28. Fail
    29. Record Act II of your Utau
    30. Release more songs.
    31. Learn how to mix without clipping in Audacity.
    32. Start using REAPER and Sony Vegas
    33. Learn to draw or find an art buddy.
    34. Become popular
    35. Fight with Mae (I do not condone this. I am a Mae-fan.)
    36. Pump out ust after ust.
    37. Become disinterested and quit.
    38. Take down all your usts.

I probably left out some crucial steps, such as "create a pitchloid" and "create 20 million appends that all sound the same."

But you get the general idea. *sigh*

Other than the "essential" ones (i.e. changing locale and recording UTAU), I haven't done many of these.

The ones I have done that I shouldn't be doing: 1, 7 (okay, let's face it, we've all done 7), 23 (this was only the first 2 months or so; when I do it nowadays, it's purely tongue-in-cheek), 24, 25, 28 (okay, so it doesn't technically fail if you put it in P1P4 or P2P3), 29 (IS NOT ACT2. IS OTHER TYPE OF VOICE), 33, and 36. (I stopped doing 36 nowadays since I'm lazy, so I need to work harder.)

I skipped most of the more frowned-upon steps, funnily enough - I did the research with Vocaloid and UTAU and knew what they were before I got into them at all.
I also don't use Audacity for mixing - REAPER or GarageBand. (Or FL.) I only use Audacity for recording, since OREMO...scares me.
I've been using Vegas for years before using the UTAU fandom, so yeah.
    Never made a pitchloid.

My first CV VB was actually one kinda-okay...my VCV is another story.

Also, I have never done 34 (This is TONGUE-IN-CHEEK, people).

And Hana alpha, beta, and gamma DO sound different...right?

Lol, yeah, this is more a parody of the fandom in general than anything.

Although I have to say, I do 15 and 28 almost constantly.

It's pathetic how many people fight with Mae. It's like highschool drama.

She is good at what she does, though.

    XD

I enjoy drama when I can point and laugh. When it's between two people that I like it just hurts. I wish people could just get along. Not just in Utau but in everything.

No, it’s “Learn your Japanese Rs (and end up pronouncing them like Ls)”.
Then “Claim that your Japanese R is better even though it sucks”.

Let’s face it, I don’t think anyone here, myself included, has done a proper Japanese R.

    Lemme see...

    1. Laugh at the weaboos.
    2. Ask what anime/manga Miku is from.
    3. Ask what Vocaloid is.
    4. Comment on how Teto is a cool Vocaloid
    5. Ask what Utau is.

    6. Download Utau.
    7. Whine about how it doesn't work.
    8. Download AppLocale
    9. Whine about how it still doesn't work.
(only romaji banks worked, so, yeah)
    10. Change your locale to Japanese. (It actually took months until I had a computer able to do so, around Step 32's time, lol)
    11. Download Oremo.
    12. Record your first voicebank.
    13. Ask what an oto is.
    14. Look up Mae's tutorials.
    15. Do it wrong.

    16. Whine about how there's no romaji usts (I romajified them by myself, got them all wrong)
    17. Try the oto again.
    18. Make the vocals to your first song.
    19. Mix in Audacity, with much clipping
    20. Add a white text on blue background title on WMM
    21. Publish to Youtube
    22. Release your first voicebank.
    23. Whine about how nobody notices you.
    24. Join Overseas
(OSUF didn't exist when I started, it's more like VO, ya know)
    25. Ask for art. (hmm, sort of)
    26. Somebody helps you with your voicebank (probably Mae) (Mae never helped me)
    27. Try and record VCV's
    28. Fail
    29. Record Act II of your Utau

    30. Release more songs.
    31. Learn how to mix without clipping in Audacity. (already knew it)
    32. Start using REAPER and Sony Vegas
    33. Learn to draw or find an art buddy.
    34. Become popular (sort of, too)
    35. Fight with Mae (I do not condone this. I am a Mae-fan.) (Hmm, more like "get comment spammed by Mae on Nico and told that your UTAUloid sounds like an orgasming chicken")
    36. Pump out ust after ust. (HAHAHA, OH, WOW)
    37. Become disinterested and quit. (someday, someday...)
    38. Take down all your usts. (HAHAHA, OH WOW²)

No, seriously, my UTAU fandom steps are so messed up... Maybe because I'm getting a bit old. THOSE KIDS SHOULD LEAVE MY LAWN! D< *Shot*

And LOL, I think I don't have a lot of problem with Japanese Rs, but it may be because Spanish/Portuguese (weak) Rs might be the closest to Japanese.

@Aline Spanish/Portuguese Rs are indeed similar to Japanese, as is Korean. But of course, they’re not exactly the same.

Mae has only contacted me once, and that was to discuss Hana’s Terms of Usage (she’d read them wrong, and admittedly I was a little strict with them). This resulted in a Hana Updated Terms of Usage in which it was pretty much free-use besides exceedingly offensive things (since honestly I don’t really care).

    So I decline comment.

Okay, so here's a repeat of what I do, except in order.

    Spoiler:

    32. Start using REAPER and Sony Vegas. (Specifically GarageBand and Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8, but never mind.)
    1. Laugh at the weaboos.
-Research Vocaloid, research UTAU; lose interest quickly.
    -Become interested in Vocaloid.
    6. Download Utau. (I did it just for Teto and a few other VBs, but never used them.)
    7. Whine about how it doesn't work.
    10. Change your locale to Japanese.
-Idolize Kanochi Neko and stalk sango312 for a while.
-Get on the Vocaloidism UTAU Ranking panel.
    12. Record your first voicebank.
-Find out what an oto is...the hard way.
-Do it correctly the first time.
-Plug in a ust with the g- flag and screw everything over royally.
    21. Publish to Youtube
    22. Release your first voicebank.
    25. Ask for art.
-Run around forums and deviantART yelling that I need an artist BADLY.
-Run around forums yelling that I need a fullbody BADLY. (And really wanting KEI-style.)
-Prod the artist who agreed to do KEI-style fullbody constantly for status updates.
    24. Join Overseas
    23. Whine about how nobody notices you.
-Quickly patch together a Korean VB.
    30. Release more songs. (Mostly with stolen usts.)
-Continue plugging in usts with poor editing. (I'm still Vocaloid nub.)
    36. Pump out ust after ust.
-Take forever to record Chinese, then English, stealing reclists and otos along the way.
-Find out that stereo samples are BAD after it's too late. (I have no choice - Audacity flips if I record mono.)
    29. Record Act II of your Utau (IS NOT ACT2. IS BETA VOICEBANK WITH SOFTER TONE.)
-Release a beta VB with tons of mic puff.
    -Fix the mic puff.
-Record a gamma VB. (IS NOT APPEND. IS GAMMA VOICEBANK WITH BRIGHTER TONE.)
    27. Try and record VCV's
    28. Fail
-Figure out that it's only possible with certain envelopes now

Things I would like to do someday (in order)
    33. Learn to draw or find an art buddy.
    18. Make the vocals to your first song.
    31. Learn how to mix without clipping in Audacity.
    34. Become popular

    Things that may happen
    37. Become disinterested and quit. (It will be on happy, good terms though.)

    Things that will never happen
    38. Take down all your usts.

I honestly don't get why it's 'so hard' to pronounce 'japanese' R's.The only difference is that they're not rolled. Unless you only speak english or never pronounced another language the right way.
sorry for being a bit off topic orz.
