The past and the present
That's when I first joined Utau. That's when I had friends and that's when...it was still something fun.
Is it me who was just a kid and see the good side of things and got emo now, or was it a fun place, unlike now? I meant, the overseas utau community (ouc to make it shorter) didn't get that much people who just ran around yelling that everybody's utauloids are bad, less who would get sad/jealous "because their utauloid weren't as good as X's" and...*sigh* but the ouc had more people who actually wanted to make an utauloid to make them sound GOOD. who (or at least tried their best to) put efforts in them.
I meant, how many cases of utauloids created with dressup games you saw back then? of people making a LOT utauloids and playing around with them for 2 weeks and then give them up? people saying "oh their tutorials are not good i don't want to know about it, can't you just do it for me, it'll be faster!" when they don't even know HOW to do it? you don't judge things when you don't know how they are. ...and finally, selfish people. I know most of your have an utauloid, right? My question seemed so idiotic, right? "Why the heck would somebody be in the Utau community if they don't have an utauloid?!" well. Ashiotone-P. They're not Kori's creator/voicer. Why would people put utauloids' voicebanks up for download if everybody just used their own utauloid(s, for a lot of people)? I guess some of you people only have utauloids' voicebanks because that utauloid's voicer helped you with something, so you NEEDED to do something in return, that's why you downloaded the voicebank. And left it there, didn't even bother to unzip it, right? Me I have around 80 voicebanks including the 2 versions of my utauloid. I thought that it was very few. I was wrong. Some people had no more than 10 voicebanks (and they didn't just join last week). I mean, in February 2009, it was probably impossible to get an amount over 100 of voicebanks, but some users having over 10 times more voicebanks than other users? ...Ugh I don't want to talk about this anymore, it makes me sick.
But I still think the USloids are the only "group" that still actually care for each other.

The "-P" name
A lot of japanese users have one, Sango312 has one, Matt9five has one, etc etc etc. And you you want one too. You're ready to CHEAT for it. you're ready to call yourself a -P when you did nothing to desserve it. And O JOY! One day, you finally got it. You jump around, tell it everybody over 10 times. But one little detail, you forgot what exactly a -P name is. You wanted to become a baker, but wanted to be called "Dr. ..." so you became a doctor instead. You destroy your big dream for a tiny one. A -P name is just a name. Having it or not will change nothing to how people look at you. Well, how people who UNDERSTAND what it is. People should get -P names to make it easier to look for their work (ex. when you look for a song of X-P on Nico Nico Douga, you look up their -P name). People should not get a -P name just to make people call them "X-P! X-P!" and make you feel all powerful and awesome. Because that is WRONG. What does an empty "awesomness" mean? You would give an empty bottle to who's dying of thirst because that's what we use to put water in? I would like you to take 5 minutes just to think...What exactly is a -P name? Why do you want it? Is it really worth it?

"Just like..."
Just like the amount of CO2 in the air, just like the amount of people who can't get enough water, just like the world population, HATE in the ouc is growing. Wanting to be THE best. The ONLY one. You would smash them down to be on top, being happy to be on top, not noticing that this "top" has just went town. Could it be better if we could all look deep down inside us, to see what WE are doing wrong, instead of blaming everybody else? NOBODY is perfect. You can't be totally innocent. Nobody is. If people admitted they can be wrong, admitted that X were actually better than them, wouldn't ouc become a better place?

* make my utauloid duet with a vocaloid just to make them popular?
What exactly is the big deal out of that. People won't remember them as "X's utauloid", but as "that utauloid who sang Y with Z"
* yelled about my utauloid everywhere so every single human on this planet knows them?
You tell it yourself.
* go all around asking people to do stuff for my utauloid?
I think you should learn to do things yourself.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't ask anybody to do anything to help you at all, me I love receiving requests, but hey, there's a limit, right? Nobody likes the same person asking you a million times to help them with a thousand projects that they don't even finish...

There are still people who make the hope of ouc being a nice place like it was not-so-long ago, but most people... are what they are, I guess?

one last question, why does these forums still exist when the first reason of their existence is not here anymore?

I think this is one of the best rants I have read in a long while. - I have to agree with Aster though.

We're all connected in a sort of family sense. Just some of our members have de-evolved from humans back into swamp-turds.

IBut I think, we're a family falling apart, like what i have almost seen once... all you guys are my friends, to me, you're all the most awesome people i ever met! i don't want to see you all..you know, fighting with each other...
but i do like seeing people putting up choruses, those trying to get somebody else's utauloid inside it make me really happy because they actually still care!

But...some of us are ants crawling in the little box of their own "thoughts, ideals, what-i-am-what-i-am-not" locked themselves in...

Honestly, what I try to do is to avoid conflict, to ignore the minority that acts stupid, and mingle with other people.

That's my philosophy and it's been successful thus far.

I've realized recently I've only been using my own UTAU and it seriously makes me sad to see that. So that's why I redid the Alice Chorus, I plan to use more people's UTAU than just my own. I start feeling bad now when ever I see a video with any of my UTAU in it. OTL, it makes me feel selfish.

I need to change my own philosophy. I stand up for people even when they don't need it a lot..It's always been my habit, being 1/6 children, and the eldest. Being over protective comes naturally. Friends, and family alike.

ari was doing things with other utau's though not everyone would help with art or tell her to stop asking and use an old piece of art (that pretty much would have nothing to do with the song she was doing for the person, so that defeats the purpose and she'd be trolled for using the same art over and over pretty much... a pattern for failure?).

i should attempt to try and figure more out with utau so maybe i could make other people sing. i admit i've been a bit selfish with it only focusing on my utau (even though it's WIP that doesn't matter really). i want to do utau stuffs cause it's fun and satisfying when you can make things (yes you're all things! XP ) sing.

i do quite agree with what you mentioned about "how many utau's you have that people don't even use". it's like, why bother downloading others if you only want to use yours?
and i never understood why someone would have to do something just so someone else could use your utau like it's some kind of black market trade.

and most of the time when a game or something is brought up about swapping utau's and putting names in a hat only a few people join... it's for fun! other people (probly some you barely know) would be making your utau sing something, i mean isn't that one of the things about utau? for other people to use them? to possibly even get original music from a random unknown instead of waiting for a nico user or asking someone to do it for you?

heck, mae even told me she was chastised many times for using some unknown utau's or ones people barely know of in choruses (and other random things), which in turn would help people see these unknowns and that people could download them and use them.

but we could go on about this forever but in truth there are people who could care less and solely believe that utau is a popularity contest. but thinking that only means a setup for failure and a dismal fate, because popularity like fame only lasts 5 minutes.

ari may come back for a bit despite not getting much of a warm welcome. she'll most likely be working on an utau she's had planned for a long time, but we'll see right now she's going through a lot as of late.

EDIT: oh and don't worry.. lots of people moved to twitter because they believed trolls were starting to come here a lot so they left. so i guess once trolls starting going to twitter they'll leave there as well.. it's pretty much no different how this forum was made.

But I agree and feel kinda bad because I'm not the words greatest artist but I'm learning so I can draw people's UTAU and my own OTL

However I have been focusing too much on my own. I also feel like uploading 2-3 videos a week is kinda spamming ||OTL

I'm working on the Magnet chorus of 24 UTAU but problem is the controversy of Yunomi P tracing is beginning to edge me away from FINISHING the video.

Excellent comparison there. I see it too, and I can't really say I'm not guilty of quite a few of the things you said in the first post. (But that was the past.)

It really irks me, really, how the community used to be a nice, cheerful place, where everyone had fun, or tried to have fun, but then everything just collapsed. I see at least two people a day who think that making an UTAUloid will make them well known and then they make a design based off and or using the pose of Hatsune Miku.

It isn't a popularity contest. 95% of all UTAUloids will not be as well known as say, Teto.

Guys. The P name isn't important. Take a look at producers like AVTechNO!, DECO*27, and Treow. Do they have P names? No. Do they still get known? Hell yeah. If you think having a P name is so cool, it's not. -P names are usually only used as an alternative to the original name, as most producers start out on Piapro, then, if there work is good, get invited into this group of producers.
neL, one of the producers who made a song for the Teto CD, has a P name- "maiyoP". And look at that- he/she prefers "neL". The artist name for the song "Melody" on the Teto CD is "neL(maiyoP)", which, more than likely, indicates that "maiyoP" is just his/her P name. That's it.
Plus, anyone can have a P name. Anyone that makes music, or videos, or animations, or games, or whatever. What's that credit line they always have in games and movies and videos- "Head Producer"? What do they always say about people who make songs- "The song was produced/composed by XXXXX"?


And everyone, please don't criticize the way I'm viewing this. It's just my opinion of things. No one should be suicidal/homicidal towards me just because I said an opinion. If you have quips on how I wrote this, PM me, but this is probably the only way I can write this response being as honest as possible.

I'm not going to pretend I'm not guilty of being an extremely selfish user who rarely uses other peoples' utau, but I still think this is a BEAUTIFUL rant.


Although I would have to disagree on one point- the whole "how many VB's I've downloaded compared to you" idea has always been one I've detested. Not everyone has enough space on their computers to do this, and sometimes their internet connections simply aren't strong enough to download a BUNCH of voicebanks. xD;

I also think that DUE to the fact that nobody seems to be doing anything for anyone, downloading a voice and just letting it sit there and gather dust is as rude as anything else you could do- It just means you got up their creators' hopes and dashed them by never even touching it. Perhaps before complaining about that, we should work towards fixing your other point, that nobody seems to be using each others' utau. xD;

To be honest, while wonderfully written, this is a little scary. OU can't all be doom and gloom and selfishness, can it? I've met quite a few nice people, but I'm hard pressed to think of anyone who has acted in the way that's described here.
Is it because I'm new? Or has the Community just grown up a little?

I think you'll find the community quite enjoyable.
Most of what tends to plague users of any fandom is the frustrations that pile on and on as time goes on, and I think a lot of people are reaching the breaking point right now when they really just have to get it off their chests... xD;
Which is why there's so much negativity, perhaps...?

But there are a lot of good things about this fandom that most people won't point out because they don't realize it, or just take for granted as something that naturally happens.
Many wonderful people, and many wonderful chances to get to know people from other countries and create good art and good music. =u=b

but back on topic i agree with you taiwonton it does seem rude to just download other peoples utaus and not ever use them i believe that's been mentioned a couple times in "a thread to drown your sorrows" thread in the chit-chat section, complaints such as "it seems only people i know download my utaus just to have a matched set or complete the family".

and well yeah.. it's just wrong and very hurtful to some and just gives up hopes for others @_@


i also agree with your brighter side there is a lot to the community that go unnoticed
like friendly and helpful people.
but recently people seem to be going off and creating their own cliques so how long this will last i dunno.
i would still like to look on the lighter side of things but i have a problem ignoring this stuff orz.
