Critique? Reim Needs You! ; A;

It mainly boils down to...Well, I'm not entirely sure. My UTAUloid sounds off to me, so I wanted to post two songs I [tried to do]. What do you guys think? I know the audio mixing is horrible, so advice on that is more than welcome too. xD; But..mainly my UTAUloid, Reim, is what I'm looking for advice on.

I have a sneaking suspicion that I've just listened to too many Nico Nico Chorus covers that anything on the original "robotic" side is going to sound weird for a while. So I don't trust my own judgment at the moment.

Here are two demos I uploaded today. I'm aware they are lacking certain "special effects" [namely Love is War], but at the moment, I'm not too worried on those.

Well, I think the UST might be off tune in Love is War, for some reason. But your UTAU sounds good in it. Mononoke Hime sounds kind of static-y with your UTAU. Are you using a good microphone? ^^

I'm not sure how to help you with having static, because I have that myself. But Love is War could probably be pitch changed in UTAU, maybe move it up a couple of notes. To do that, select all, then go to the edit menu, move region by number, and then click on how many notes you want it to go up by. I hope this helps! ^^

And I thought the recordings were okay? .. Maybe. xD; When I played them all back [before adding to the voicebank] they sounded clear and without static. :< Maybe in the next few days I'll try to make a better set, and see which is better.

For some reason, it happens to me too... =a= My recordings sometimes get static in them in UTAU. No amount of recording can change that for me. ;A;

Maybe I have the same bad luck? ; A; Or maybe it's just the song at the time.

I just did Ievan Polka [I figured not even -I- can fubar this one.] and she seems to sound a bit better? o uo

Something my friend mentioned too is that Vocaloid and UTAU, the ideal range are the higher pitches. As in, she said they usually sound better than lower? [In Love is War, I lowered the pitch by 2 regions (and forgot to lower the song, derp) because I thought it was too high for her. :<]

Ah, you lower songs thw wrong way then. You always need to lower one octave, so 12 sections. Else it will sound off-tune.

Her voice, however, sounds good.

...12 is one octave? xD Holy unripe doo-doo covered banana. No WONDER. I've been lowering by like, one or two regions.

It explains a lot. Try it on Love is War, you'll notice the difference. It will sounds much, much better.

WELL. Moving it -down- one octave made her sound like a...12-pack-a-day smoker or something. Lols. Amusing results! However, I still played around with it a bit. I found a good/appropriate level for her! I'm rendering it now to see how it sounds. Then if it's good I'll audio-swap the youtube vid. xD

xD Cool! I should be done in just a little bit. I think I'm in denial that my voice really is higher than I think it is. xD That's why I kept trying to lower songs for her.

I'm hoping she doesn't just sound uh..common. D: That would suck.

I left it in the range she's generally been good in. [While the mixing on Daughter of Evil was fail, her tone/pitch was perfect] And uh I guess it's just how Love is War is? Very..high pitched? D:

It sounds good. The start after the scream sounds too high, but it's not like you can do anything about that. It's the .UST I think... (Hasn't used it, has a male UTAU)

Hmm, it's still a step too high. Open the UST, hit Ctrl+A, and drag the notes down two spaces. The first note should be on A3. Also, if she sounds all gravelly-like (I don't think she would, though, it'd only be a step lower), it might help to go to Project Properties under the Projects menu, and type "BRE0" in the Rendering Options box (this is where you put your flags). The 0 can be any number 0-100, but you'll usually want to keep it in the 0-10ish range. The g-flag also goes in this box, basically, "g+[insert number 0-100 here]" makes your UTAU sound more masculine, and "g-[insert number here]" makes them sound more feminine. I hope that all makes sense... ^__^;;

It does actually. Someone on youtube suggested trying g-5 and g+5 to see what the differences were, but I had no idea what they were talking about. xD Thank you for clearing that up!
