The whole reason the Nico ones work is because you don't go "OH YESI MADE THIS SO I'LL WATCH IT" or "I've never heard of this UTAUloid... *skips over video*". You just watch things that look interesting. D: But on youtube there's the subscriptions and then most of the popular UTAUloid videos are made by the UTAUloids owner, too. Dx I mean, Teto, Momo, Ruko and Ritsu all get millions of places in the Nico Ranking, BUT THEY'RE NOT ALL BY THE SAME PEOPLE, MAN. DDDx And so concludes my qualms with this.
I wish I could provide a better idea on how to rank them but sadly... nope. Dx Real people wouldn't work, unless we found some people with heaps of spare time and super fast unlimited internet, who were also trustworthy and un-biased. D|

As cool as this is, I do have to agree. =( But I really like the idea of a newcomers section, to help new UTAUloids and UTAU users get discovered and all. There are plenty of good overseas UTAU out there, I think the problem is that some people don't know where to look.

This needs to go by quality of the voice and quality of the song-making, not by views/favorites/ratings. Because more subscribers = more views. And someone can have three subscribers and then have an amazing UTAU and it never gets found because vid-diving on Youtube gets you no where.
It works on Nico, but I don't think it'll work on Youtube. D;

If I recall correctly, Nico has a special tag system specifically for ranking type things.

Actually, it's simple as to how rankings are made.
There's a formula that includes views, comments, and likes/favorites/mylists.
There's also a feature on youtube that allows you to see videos posted within the month, with them being sorted by view count, comment count, and I'm not sure about like count.
That being said, it is really easy to make the rankings.
All you need is to use the formula on the video's statistics.
However- It doesn't work on youtube because of subscriptions/friend activity.
It works on Nico because it's anonymous and people stumble on things as opposed to being informed of it.
Furthermore, I have been looking through the new videos on Youtube to find new UTAUs.
