lol if you have an IME for Cantonese I guess it's a little better ^^; I learned Chinese characters from my mom, but I have learned more kanji lol so I guess knowing Chinese helps in Japanese
And I don't know any Mandarin! D: Everytime a Mandarin person goes on the phone I give it to my mom or just start speaking English to scare them away xD(telemarketers, tsk)
I have very limited vocab, I don't know my numbers or time (today, when... I do know the word tomorrow xD). I have to count numbers on my fingers OTL

I'm bilingual :3 My native language is english, but I'm fluent in french. (When you're literally right next to Quebec, learning french is a must. o3o) I'm in French immersion at school :3

I'm (obviously) fluent and German and can type fluent English. When I speak to/have a call with people, my English is rather choppy... I think fluent, though xD'

I also speak French, but I often can't remember words so I don't speak it /that/ fluent.

He's better at speaking Mandarin rather than Cantonese, so idk how well he writes his Cantonese. He spent six months in China and Tibet though, so he would of learned some stuff there I'm guessing.

Anyway, I can UNDERSTAND a little Tagalog without being able to speak it, am generally self-taught in what little Japanese I know (which is not enough for polite conversation, but still quite a bit...), I know a little German, Italian and VERY VERY little French.

Chinese is my first. I can barely speak enough to be understood xD

I can't. I can't master intonations at all.
But here's an example:
"promise" - in Japanese, as you and everyone here and probably every weeaboo who knows very little Japanese know, is "yakusoku". (The "u"s are because they can't end any syllable with a consonant except "n".)
In Korean, it's "yaksok" (Korean can end in consonants).
Both are from some Chinese word that I don't know, but it was easy for me to recognize "yakusoku" immediately because of my Korean background.

But sometimes it gets weird, you know...my dad's name (in hanja) is "won" in Korean, but "gen" in Japanese, so I dunno what the hell kind of Chinese word that comes from.
And sometimes it's really odd. "South" in Korean is "nam", but in Japanese it's "minami". I mean, I see the "nam", but...

And after, I'm trying to learn Japanese (but it's very hard x_x" but easier than Chinese), and I tried Occitan and Latin (but I can't remember them T__T" *ashamed* )

English, Filipino and sum... Nihonggo. (not that confident in speaking nihonggo. Nihonjin ja nai. ~_~)

@Milly - I agree that Nihonggo is pretty easier than Chinese. Or I was just unmotivated from my last professor which is a homo. ~_~

Ah..I can understand simple or common used Japanese words. After working a while with UTAU,I learned to read Hiragana and a tiny bit of katakana. I just can't understand what I'm reading. ;v;

I'm currently learning Spanish;and not doing so well

And...a little of Chinese and a little of Japanese. I took ASL, Spanish, and French at one point in my life when we were forced to, but I know very little. (Alphabet in ASL, "Hola! Como estas? Mal." In spanish, and I remember only pronunciation in French, orz. A friend of mine is trying to teach me Korean too, since it's her native language. Lessons aren't going well. orz.)
I learned hiragana and katakana because of UTAU, and then some of the kanji is the same in Japanese as it is in Chinese, but Japanese uses the traditional characters... I know words, but I fail at grammar. And I sometimes don't know how to say words in each language. orz... English to any other language is something I usually fail at. The other way around turns out a lot better.
(Cuz in Chinese class, I'll see a character like 音 and I'll totally think "ne" instead of "yin", thankfully I haven't made those mistakes on tests...><")
