Okay, so I know by the glossary triphonics/VSVs/etc are a way to string recorded sounds together and such to make a more natural sounding singing voice. I know OREMO is a good program for helping with making banks. Thing is, beyond that I'm royally confused. How does one go about making a UTAU that works with triphonics? Since there is apparently a significant quality boost, I'd like to make mine using them. Keep in mind I have ZERO idea what I'm doing. I open UTAU and start panicking just looking at the screen. So you're dealing with someone who doesn't know much at all about the program.

My other question MAY be related to that, but I'm not sure. Languages. How do you create a UTAU that natively works with a language other than Japanese? If the Engloids are any indication, English is a harder language to manage. I guess it doesn't "flow" as well as Japanese, or maybe its just harder to string together or something. Darn if I know, it's why I'm asking. I'd like to make a bilingual English-Japanese UTAU, but I'm not sure how to go about doing this. The same comments about totally not knowing what I'm doing apply.

Spanish is really easy to make with UTAU, because it has almost the same pronunciation as Japanese :>
You can use this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPA_chart_for_Spanish as a help.
And Wikipedia has IPA charts for many languages so...:D

I ain't even ATTEMPTING the Spanish phenomes. XD Thanks for the suggestion, but I technically shouldn't even be doing Japanese with my extremely limited understanding. I at least want to learn the language, so that's my excuse.

Yeah, I don't wanna learn Spanish. >__> Does that make me a bad person?

Triphones. Get a record list with at least five kana in each sample. Record the record list. Import bank into UTAU. Configure.
I have a tutorial posted somewhere on my youtube channel, annamaeblythe .
I suggest using a reclist like Kanipan, LOKE, or Anaka used, but some people may prefer Ritsu's list.
DO NOT use the Oremo list or the Teto list. 'Lite' triphones are just dumb to me.

    Languages -
Before you go and create a whole bank, play with making English with Japanese phonemes. If it is not fluent enough, record English vowels that are absent first, then decide if you will need to record a whole bank to make fluent English yourself. It's just like making them sing Japanese, only you need to use the envelope tool to silence parts of it.
DO NOT just record things like t, k, and d. UTAU needs the vowel at the end of it to work. Using the same train of logic, I think you'd have to put a dummy vowel you would silence after each sample that ends in a consonant that doesn't act like a vowel, as in N, M, or L (and maybe a few others.)
If you want to do a FULL bank, I suggest using X-SAMPA for naming.

Mae? Um... I've actually seen some of your tutorials, and I don't find them all that helpful. Maybe you've improved, but the one I saw... talked a lot about things that had nothing to do with the tutorial.

I can take the advice, but I don't think I can use your tutorials. Thanks!

There are some languages that "flow" better than other ones... Like, I can perfectly understand Yoshi's chinese but I have some problem understanding Yoshi's english...
But Luka's english is very good..so I think there might be some little tricks that helps the voice to sound more natural and "understandable"...
