Determining official voice range for UTAU Empty Determining official voice range for UTAU

Post by GelatoMoon Mon Jun 28, 2010 1:45 pm

So I'm editing my wiki page for my VB, and I'm grabbing my info from the UTAU program.

In the info section it's telling me my VB's overall range is A#3. I'm thinking to myself " Wait a minute, isn't A range supposed to be higher than average?" and I notice when I'm rendering ust parts for her to sing, I can see different pitch letters and numbers, and most of them are E#'s and occasionally F# and G#'s. I intended for her to have a contralto-like voice range, or at least lower than average.

So what I'm asking is how does one determine an UTAU's overall voice range and pitch?

I hope this question will make some sense because I am one confused little nooblet. ( I also apologize if anyone else asked this before.)

What the UTAU program tells you is your voicebank's average frequency, which is what note most of the samples are on. My UTAU's is E4. A range would be something like C3->G5 or something. (just made those numbers up. XD)

But yeah, I have no idea how to determine an UTAU's range. ;_; I second your question!

To determine the range of your utau, just put a note as low as you can without them sounding awful, and that will be the first part of the range. For example, my utau Phoenix's lowest note is C3(but he can go a tiny bit lower if he has to.)

Then, put the note as high as you can without it sounding bad, and that will be the second note in your range. My utau's is G6 (but he can go a tiny bit higher.)

So my utau's range is C3~G6.

    That's basically all^^

ooh, I should see what Trem's is...

    *opens utau*

    E3-G5!

...so she can sing higher than me, but I can sing a little bit lower than her.

    weird....

I want to point that maybe some notes can reach very high (or low) but other ones can't do that.
For example "i" is going to be probably higher than "u".

Maybe for a real range you want to check a lot of different sounds.
