- Spoiler:
- "Seiji-kun!" Meimu yelled at the front door of her partner's house. "I know you're in there!" She knocked again.
No answer.
Seiji looked out of the peep whole in the door at her uncertainly. She had said they were going somewhere. But with Meimu that wasn't always a good thing.
He remembered their last date together. Granted it was one of their more normal dates, he had been infinitely embarrassed by her.
-They had gone to an aquarium in the next city over, which had started out nice, and Seiji had wondered if it was going to be normal. But with Meimu nothing was normal for long.
They had just left the jellyfish exhibit, where they had been mesmerized by the bright colors, and Seiji had had the urge to kiss her. But age had not allowed it. So he'd sighed and went on to the next exhibit.
Sharks, how he hated the creatures. But he went on, knowing it would be over as soon as they reached the end of the tunnel. The next exhibit was...oh God. Baby sharks.
Meimu had grabbed his hand and raced towards them. She looked at one specifically. It was a small white hammer head.
She looked at him and smiled, taking his breath away momentarily, and said, "I think you can touch them. Look at that one." She pointed to the one she had been looking at. Seiji shivered. He wanted to get away from them as soon as possible, yet Meimu wanted to touch the creature. He sighed.
"What about it?" He asked. Meimu grabbed his wrist and pulled him toward the shark. She dipped his hand in the water, and tried to guide his hand toward it. That was when Seiji pulled away, completely mortified. He'd splashed several people, and scared the small thing away in his outburst.
Some of the patrons standing around sent him dirty looks, some sent him apologetic looks, some just thought he was crazy.
He looked at Meimu, then the people staring, then back at her.
He grabbed her hand, and made their escape, blushing furiously. Meimu couldn't help but laugh at his insecurities even though he made himself out to be fearless, and always in control.
"I'm sorry, Seiji-kun." And she pulled him to her for a small but thorough kiss.
Seiji, not being one for public displays of affection, pulled away first. But he kept his arm lightly around her waist the rest of the evening.-
He smiled fondly at the end of the memory, thinking that Meimu wouldn't be Meimu if she wasn't always so unpredictable, and opened the door slowly.
Meimu had just been about to knock to when the door opened, and her fist had been in midair, she hit him in the chest. Hard.
"Ow."
"Sorry." She blushed. "So are you ready to go?"
"Erm...mind if I ask where we're going?" He knew it was a fruitless attempt.
"Its a surprise!"
Seiji sighed. "As usual."
"Yup, now let's go." He looked at her oddly.
"What?" She asked.
"How are we getting there?"
She grinned. "I just got my driver's license." Then she pouted. "You'd know that if you ever picked up your phone."
Seiji smiled apologetically and finally felt true terror.
His spitfire of a girlfriend, driving. A tremor of fear shot up his spine as he climbed into the car.
Meimu plopped down into the driver's seat, and started the engine. She then put her seatbelt on.
This surprised Seiji but he didn't say anything as he put his seatbelt on as well.
Meimu looked at him and smiled, then pulled out of the driveway. She hit the road at the speed limit.
Seiji felt his fear subside a little and he relaxed a little.
Meimu's car was a stick shift and he noticed she had it in the wrong gear. He put his hand over hers and switched it from first to second to third.
Meimu blushed and shifted her eyes to his momentarily while they were at a red light.
She leaned over and placed a small kiss on his well shaven cheek, before the red light turned green and turned.
Seiji watched as she made another two turns and then pulled into a large parking lot. Then it dawned on him what their date was.
"Oh, nonono!" He tried to grab the keys from Meimu's hand after she turned the car off.
"Sei, just relax. Its just shopping. Its not going to kill you!" She got out of the car and Seiji followed, reluctantly.
"You never know." He sighed and took his place beside her.
They headed into a book store first. This made Seiji feel a little better, even though the trip in there was brief.
Seiji had bought 5 books, most of them informational, while Meimu walked out hands free.
"Satisfied?" She asked and steered him towards a men's clothing store.
"I was. Until you dragged me in here." His deep voice, deadpan as he followed her over to the jeans, knowing she'd force him into the rough fabric.
"I just want to know what you look like in casual clothes." She blushed and pulled out a pair of dark jeans, but shook her head and put them back, much to Seiji's relief.
"Khaki?" She held them up, then shook her head. "Corduroys?" She pulled out a pair of black corduroys and held them up.
She and Seiji both nodded. They, then, headed over to the shirts. Meimu pulled out a button up shirt in his favorite color of red. Seiji nodded and Meimu pushed him into the nearest dressing room.
Seiji sighed and stripped. He pulled the pants on first, liking the way they looked, surprisingly. Then shrugged the button up on. He buttoned the shirt slowly, careful not to tug on the buttons too hard.
When he was done, he stepped out of the dressing room to find Meimu.
She was sitting in a waiting chair and had her mouth open.
"What?" Seiji asked self consciously, tugging at the fabric of the shirt until he thought it was acceptable.
Meimu didn't even bother with picking her mouth off the floor as she stuttered. "Uh...I...You..." She blushed. "You look really nice..."
Seiji raised an eyebrow at her and smirked. "Only nice?"
She blushed further, and blurted "Fine, you look absolutely gorgeous!"
Seiji grinned and kissed her cheek briefly and stepped back into the dressing room.
"So where to next?" Seiji asked after he made his purchase.
"Fashion boutique for me. You can go back to the book store if you want." She offered, since she knew he wouldn't want to go with her.
But he surprised her. "Nah, I'll just read in the waiting chair. I've got the books I want from there anyway."
"Oh. Okay."
They walked into a very pink shop. Around the walls were different styles of clothes arranged by color. Tops were on the top part of shelves and pants, skirts, and shorts were on the bottom part. Dresses were along an entirely different wall.
Unlike the previous shop, the clerk came out from her counter to greet them and see if they needed anything.
"Hello, may I help you?" She had a warm smile and a friendly atmosphere.
"Could you please find a chair so Seiji could wait while I shop?" Meimu asked.
"Of course, dear. I wish my husband was willing to wait while I shopped like yours. He always vertures off to tools and such." She smiled and pulled a comfortable looking chair out from behind the counter.
"Erm...h-he's not my husband..." Meimu blushed.
"Oh! So sorry! You just look like a married couple, so I assumed..." She let her sentance trail off, and Seiji sat down in the chair, a faint blush on his cheeks.
"I'm Hayari. Is there anything I can help you find?" She smile warmly, her poofy pink hair mimicking the color of the wall behind her.
"Ah, no thank you. I'm Meimu by the way, and that's Seiji." She pointed to the book loving man in the chair.
"Okay, then. You have a look around and I'll try not to bore Seiji-kun, here." She grinned, and launched into conversation over one of the books Seiji had pulled out.
"Come on! One last stop, you'll love it!" Meimu pulled on his arm, with a mischevious grin playing on her lips.
"U-uh...I-I don't l-like the way you're looking at me...I-it's too...suspicious..." He looked at her like she was going to murder him at she gragged him into thier last stop.
"Oh. NONONO!" He made a mad dash to the exit, but Meimu cught his shirt in a vice-like grip.
"Hehe, you know you wanna." She whispered.
"YOU'RE NOT EVEN LEGAL YET!"
"And?" She pulled him back inside, and sat him down next to an equally nervous-looking man in the dressing room.
"I'll be right back." She winked at him and skipped away.
Just as the thought of running away crossed his mind, the clerk came up and spoke in his ear. "I don't think she'd be happy if you left. It would only lead to bad s--"
"UH! NO, PLEASE DON'T SAY IT!"
The clerk grinned and offered his hand to Seiji. "I'm Yuugi. You are?"
He took his hand cautiously. "Seiji."
"Ah, well it looks like she's returned." And he ran off to the counter to check a woman out.
"What do you think of these Sei-kun?"
His last thought was 'She's going to kill me!' before Meimu pulled him inside the dressing room.
