Er. I know nothing about making these yet. My UTAUloid only has the Japanese set recorded, and even though I speak English, I'm not sure all what needs to be recorded for it- or how to make them work with some of these VSQs.

I found two primarily that I'd really like to use, but they use full English words instead of syllables. I'm not sure how to edit them and add extras while still keeping them all on time. D:

[The VSQs in question are Still Alive by..lxw, I think. And Fireflies by Sango.]

There isn't a form of converting these [easily] right? I'd have to remake them from scratch if I wanted them to work?

    It's complicated, but here's how:

Do you have English phonemes? If not, Japanese phonemes can be used, but with an accent.

You break down the note by sound. For example, "fireflies" would be "fa i a fu ra i su" and the length of all the broken notes must equal to the length of the note before it was broken. For example, if the note "fireflies" was 100 'units' long, then the "fa i a fu ra i su" total must add up to 100.

    Here's a visual:

    Sorry for the awful quality...
    D:
But the top one is how I edited it fitting my UTAU's voicebank. (she has English phonemes) Bottom one is the original.
See how "Love me" is "luuh vv mi"?
    It's the same idea.
In your head, break down the English words into Japanese sounds.

An easy way to split up notes is to click on the end of the note you want to split (like, pretty much the black line, your cursor should turn into a horizontal double arrow... thing) and then drag it backwards until the little ghosty grey line is where you want the first note to end. You should end up with that note, plus a rest. Double click on the rest and type in your next lyric. If you need to split the note up into more than two sounds, drag the end of the new note backwards and repeat. owo

Chasing Fireflies is correct but let me point a pair of things that happens to me (I wonder if it's just me because I use AppLocale):

-Sometimes the notes don't want to be short enough (like if you want to make a consonant like the final v from love, it has to sound short). I have to re-select "(none)" from the Quatize list you can see in the top of UTAU.

-If you drag to make shorter a note and create a new note but the next item of the song is a rest, the new note will not appear because you're just making the next rest longer. To bypass that, I rename the silence as with a name other than "R" to make it a note (I use "X", I don't know why). Then you use the method to split the previous note and when you're done re-rename that old silence to "R" again.
