Aww, just because a lot of people have really stupid cat-themed characters doesn't mean it can't be pulled off well. Hana has an adorable design IMO, the cat ears work for him. owo

I've seen about 10 cat-type UTAU, and 5 non-furry wolf/werewolf UTAU. (Kenji, Janyori, Ookami, Miko, Ongaku)
About 15 furries. Zeny is the only good one I have seen (besides the adorable Byakkoya Noi and this one womanly sounding one).

And oh god that face- Zeny, that face is staring into my soul and eating it ALIVE. lol

I agree. As long as an Utau has a good voice and has some semblance of a unique outfit, who cares what species they are?

And guys, maybe we should have a rule that to get tips you have to give at least a small one to someone else, so this doesn't turn out like the UTAU Critique thread. ^__^;;

ima keep my utau the same~ untill act 2 to look more steam punk like originally planned (it won't be a drastic change he'll just be more detailed so you can tell he's from that genre)

but after that ima keep him looking like that till i decide to change something if i so choose~

Okay you guys, you can't say DON'T TURN THIS INTO A HATE THREAD LOL every time some opinions start coming up. Not everyone is going to like all UTAU, and that's part of the critique. I didn't see any "hating" going on here at all. XD;

Anyway, I don't want to give any critiques without the owner of the UTAU giving me permission, so I'm withdrawing myself from commenting on anything else in here XDDD

GUYS. GUUUYYYYYSSSS. I'm not really discussing originality. For an outsider, 90% of UTAUloids are nothing but the same thing as Miku with some slight changes, furries, or people with normal clothes + strange haircolor. They wouldn't consider our fandom original or anything.

I'm not even discussing to hate on animal ears or furries. Seriously, I've seen awesome designs that happened to have animal ears or were furries, but people dismiss ALL these designs as "boring and uncreative", in a hatefest that would make even Grinch afraid of such grumpiness.

And you know, Mary-Sues? In UTAU, EVERYONE is a Mary-Sue. For the simple fact that all UTAUloids can sing perfectly and fit into any kind of story as the awesome main character (you know, the songs), many outsiders also see it as Mary-Sue traits (no, srsly, go check TV Tropes, they said the same about Miku).

What I planned to do in this group is to help people making characters that aren't basically God nor just plain Miku recolors, and to help with color coordination as well. Not for everyone to become elitist pricks and judge a whole design because it's based in seifuku or has cat ears.

Mahou Yuki is an awesome design with cat ears (in her headset, but still there) and Motone Yumi is an awesome design with school attire. You can recognize both immediately and agree that they have a nice color balance and elements that spice from the traditional in the fandom. There, I disproved two main points of hatred this thread has in less than a minute of typing.

EDIT: I forgot a really important point: the main point of the workshop was to improve designs and work with ideas the voicebank author wanted to conceive but couldn't due to the lack of artistic ability or elaborate creativity. Color coordination would also be worked on here. It's not to completely destroy designs to make them reborn in what we like, it's just make a balance and a spice in the original design. Sheesh, you guys make me sad with that hatefest! ;n;

The definition of an UTAU Mary Sue is very different from the normal character Mary Sue. For the UTAU, you need to disregard the "any-personality/moldable" thing. (And btw, I disagree with TVtropes on Miku = Mary Sue. I do think she's often stylized as Mary Sue by otaku fandom though as the perfect 2D Girl.)

But there are people who give their UTAU some superawesomemegasmexy backstory and insist everyone stick to it.

I don't like.
