This very nice person offered to do my OTO.ini for me

a week later he got back to me saying my files were too loud and long

    Sad

i thought long files were good
and i just have a very loud voice

is there any way for me to reduce volume without re-re-re recording my voicebank?
or anyone willing to do my OTO.ini?

I'll take a look. You have no FRQs so don't expect it any time soon I have a major kochiro update, and 2 utau to OTO/FRQ.

actually when they said ur samples were to loud they probably meant that ur samples clipped
my daddy told me that if i recorded to loud that the samples would clip and we couldnt use them for nedan Sad
but he also said that long samples took up more space and that they just sounded icky in the end and that short samples were better

ummmmm if they sounded clipped, that may have been because i had no way to fade out sound

and people said long samples allow for more realism

    Well,long samples can sound realistic.
..However,if you prolong that sample, your voice will give out and the sample will sound worse. Short samples can sound just as realistic (most of the time, much better) if you record it correctly! c:

they start half a second to a second in, because otherwise the start may get clipped and last about a second

    ???
i dont really no what ur talking about
but sound clips when the program u r using too record ur voice cant save all of the data u r imputting
it dosnt really matter if it fades any place the sound was too loud it will clip
u need to fix it by just rerecording Smile u can not be so loud by not being to close to the microphone !!! or by not yelling ur samples i dont no how u recorded

i thouht that too but my daddy said it was wrong Sad i beleave my daddy thouh

PS: i really like neopets Smile

my mp3 recorder can record up to sixty second of files (because i have the trial version XD)
and i was very careful not to speak TOO loud

and this would be the fifth time i've recorded

the sounds that do work eg. na, sound quite good

    ???
i thouht UTAU only worked with WAVs
why would u use an mp3 recorder when programs like REAPER Audacity and OREMO work really well to make utau banks ???

    Hmm ok.
When you record too loud, your mic cannot hold the wave amplitude and it clips it... that is, it chops off the top (and bottom) of the waveform so that it fits in the maximum amplitude it can handle.
That's what clipping is, and it introduces degradation of sound quality.

That said... Why did you record your VB in mp3? And you packaged wav+mp3 too, that makes the file unnecessarily large. I'd suggest you to drop that trial mp3 recorder you're using and use something that can record directly in wav, like oremo or audacity...

Anyway, I opened only a few of your samples in Audacity. Some of them were good, but some have clipping (for instance, "da" and "ba" have definitely clipping)... I don't have time to look through them all, though... you should use some audio editor like audacity and look through the waveforms, if you see the top or the bottom of the wave is squared, then it meas it's clipping.
