[SUGGESTION] Voicebank catalogue

Coming from here.

A voicebank catalogue would come in handy. Possibly set up like this:

Catalogue:

Male
- Deep
- High/Light
- Strong
- Soft
- Airy
- Append (<- Would have all the appends of existing voicebanks)

And the same for female. (We coul have more catagories. And no, airy is NOT the same as soft PLZKTHNX)

And the template to register voicebanks (not neccesarily yours) would look like this:

Voicebank type:
Language compatibility:
Voice sample:
Voicebank link:
Appends:

Filled, it should look like this:

Name: Yuugi Hakune - 拍音ユウギ
Voicebank type: CV, romaji with hiragana aliases
Language compatibility: Japanese

Sounds like a good idea! non/ And perhaps instead they should be listed alphabetically by last name, and in the entry there should be a voice description. (such as soft, strong, childish, etc). Because some voices fit into more then one category and don't really need to be listed multiple times simply because of their voice descriptions.

Just a small suggestion though~

I for some reason thought of like, an addition to the Voicebank directory, where those said voice types are. xD but then you'd need Sub-Subboards...

yeah @_@ that's why i think a team would be needed cause this could get very messy

It could get a little messy, but IMHO it'd be worth it to have a separate list of soft VBs, strong VBs, etc. Sometimes you're looking for a specific type of voice for a song, and... well, it'd be nice to have a better way than going to the UTAU wiki and pressing "random page" over and over. XD It probably wouldn't even get that messy if we kept the number of categories (and the number of categories that each UTAU falls under) to a minimum. Narrow enough to be useful but not so arbitrary that they either apply to almost every UTAU or only, like, five.

I guess this could get messy very easily indeed... That's why I posted it here, to see what other people would come up with.

I don't know where it should fit into the forums though, that's up to the mods.

OTL For now, since we don't actually have a website (In forum form this would be hard to maintain and could be difficult to keep unmessy...), maybe you could use UO? The newly founded UTAU Online...

Unfortunately, I can't contribute to the ideas because I'm currently brain dead =w=;; too much homework~~

But Peachbite already has cataloging by the type of UTAU. Male, Female, Animal, and Misc.

I still believe just having them arranged alphabetically would be easiest. Especially when you're looking for a certain UTAU and you know their name, but maybe not what voice category they could be in. CTRL+F lets you search for keywords within a webpage, so if you want an UTAU with a strong voice, just search it this way. We can limit the type of description words so that they are universal. Do you know how many pages upon pages it would take to list voicebanks by voice type? Especially if one voice has more than one attribute. ie. Soft and High. (Like mine umu; ) Of course, you could clump all the categories onto one page, but my goodness the bandwidth.

speaking of which, we should affiliate it'd be a great way for someone who comes to this site to hear about some utaus and search for a VB and just in one click can get to the VB from that site. that place is very well organized and easily maintained for VB's and could serve a great alternative to the wiki.

the wiki i see as a good place to know about each individual utau, while utauonline i can see almost as a sister site that carries all the VB's categorized for easy access and this forums puts up a ton of videos from all kinds of utau in the song covers and originals section (which there are already a ton of to look at).

if something like this could be done (and yes halo i agree a website would most likely be needed to make things cleaner)... well for me it'd be great i could hear all the utau i barely know or don't know at all, instead of clicking random utaus in the wiki not knowing who they are or how they sound aaaaannndd it can be such a pain searching for one utau [at a time] when you just wanna know how he/she/it sounds DX.

and believe me.. i barely know any utau because all i hear now are the same ones over and over again lately ._.; so i have been trying to search out other peoples utau and using them lately, peoples utau who are rarely used.
