MIKU ENGLISH VOICE BANK CONFIRMED FOR BRAWL

A few hours ago, the CEO of Crypton Future Media has announced at his New York Anime Festival/Comicon panel that Miku will be getting an English voice bank if one condition is met:

A MINIMUM OF 39,390 USERS MUST LIKE THE OFFICIAL MIKU FACEBOOK PAGE.

Also, the CEO also said that a male vocaloid was in fact in development, but nothing further was said.

Also, I asked what he thought of UTAU, and his response was "I support similar products like Vocaloid because it helps expand the market and makes more people aware of Vocaloid", or something along those lines.

Finally, there will be a Hatsune Miku concert tomorrow at 11:45am in room 1E03 for those attending New York Comicon this weekend.

My little brother managed to get his autograph, and I even got a photo with him, though I'll only show people in private upon request because I don't want everyone seeing me.

Last but not least, Rin/Len appends are due December 2010.

Fujita Saki cannot speak English. Keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that Luka's English was a business failure.

1) Overendorsement of Miku. Yes, I like Miku, yes, I think developments are good, no, Crypton, pleae don't make her your goddamned mascot.
2) Asakawa Yuu can speak English. Thus Luka English was born, and it sounds totally off. Fujita Saki cannot speak English. I know they can force her, but having lived among Asians for years has me know that it would be nigh impossible to even get near the phoenemes.
3) I've never liked those "this-many-likes" facebook campaigns. Let's face it, Miku is really popular, you have enough support.

The only things I liked about this announcement are 1) confirmation of Rin/Len Append date and 2) another reference to CV04 so we know the project isn't dropped.

It was hilarious when someone asked about the male vocaloid. After the guy asked his question, the response was:

"...We are making a male vocaloid." and ended the conversation there LOL.

As for English Miku, it will sound awkward, but it'll also improve chances of Western companies making vocaloids too, as opposed to just PowerFX and Zero-G.

He sort of alluded to that, when someone asked if the other Vocaloids would get English banks. He said something like "Let's see what happens with Miku first". But nothing specific.

Maybe that's a good thing then.
Because if it becomes universal for all of the Vocaloids, then it's not just a cop-out to promote Miku.

I think it's a good idea to test it with Miku first. I mean, Luka's been out for long enough for them to understand the fails with Luka's English... The reason they're doing this may be the reason they do... well, about half the things they've been doing... To test new methods. Well, hopefully.

The appends for example. If people hadn't liked them, there's NO WAY they would have given them to Rin/Len. That's also a reason why they do it with Miku first (apart from, of course, guaranteed money). There is NO WAY one bad bank can affect the fanbases' views on Miku.

Srs. She's too popular.

Anyway, hopefully they're making her an English bank is because they have a better method of forcing English out of a non-native speaker, or at least configuring it. XD

Like I said...it would be phonetically impossible...so they'd better have some good editing methods.

Maybe she's getting lessons in how to say the phonemes separately. Who knows, you know?

...My grandmother has been taking lessons (diligently) for over 30 years to shrug off her Korean accent. No progress...(And Korean has more English-like phoenemes than Japanese!)

And then what. Then she has an accent. Probably 99% of the fanbase will think it's moe and love it. 1% will whine about the accent.

And Engloids have accents too, you know.
