    I got a new "noise cancelling" headset. Lies. Sort of. If I don't have the microphone boost on, there is no background noise. That's great, right? However, without the boost on, I'm -super- quiet, no matter how loud I try to be.

    Is there a way to make my microphone louder [I use Audacity currently to record] without using the windows microphone boost?

    I'd say use the compressor tool. It should be useful in this situation.

    Is the volume of the microphone to the max in the windows settings?

    Aside of the nice compressor tool, you can try "normalize", too. But don't set it to zero. Use something like "-3" or even a lower number (I mean... more negative, like "-5" or "-6").

    It's..actually sort of weird. I may have potentially fixed this problem without touching anything? I'm not sure. I recorded what I considered to be "quiet" [and what I was told before was 'too quiet'] and upped the volume in audacity, and imported it. But uh. Well. ... I don't want to talk about that. ;o;

    So I put [in UTAU] the one that was "quiet". And it sounds pretty good, actually.

    Funky. But thank you all for your assistance ;o;
